#2> Use ThomasNet or Hoovers to search for a company by industry or product service

For example, if you have an innovative idea related to children & infants start a search on ThomasNet. Type the word "children" in the search box and a matching category of children's items will appear. Related items from children's sportswear to sandboxes are available to choose from. Select the category related to your invention and you'll find a list of companies and contacts to submit your invention to.

#3> Go shopping and read the labels of similar or comparable product to your idea

When you go shopping at the mall or grocery store take a closer look at the packaging. Their usually is a company name on the packing including an address. Using the internet and some clever searching you can learn a lot about the company on the packaging. Some product brand names are the company name while other products are manufactured then resold through a distributor.

Complete a through investigation on the company listed on the packaging before you send any information regarding your invention. You can submit your idea to a manufacture or a distributor either one maybe interested in your invention. Never send any material or detailed information to a company without first making contact and establishing some type of agreement.
